Microsoft Open Licencing Programme (MOLP)

Buying a new SQL Server or setting one up? Licencing should be a simple affair with transparant pricing, but often you are locked into your suppliers and can't get competitive pricing, let alone up-to-date real advice on configuration.

For example, did you know that unlike the old days where SQL only needed to be licenced for the processor it accessed, it now has to be licenced for every processor that the underlying Windows Operating System accesses? That's quite a change and means that many systems are out of date and illegal (many organisations employ licencing audit software) and resolving this will blow your budgets way out.

However, you don't want to spend extra thousands without any real gain in power so often it is best to dig deeper into your requiremements - if you don't need anonymouse internet access, you may not need a processor licence (or one for each processor!) - instead use a server licence with CALs (Client Access Licences). 500 Users accessing this on a 4-processor server would cost you around £1,500 instead of the £24,000 for 4 processor licences!

As an official Microsoft Independant Software Vendor (ISV) we understand the make-up of systems, not just the sales and marketing. We are also an official reseller of systems with direct pricing of MOLP and other software licencing agreemements so we can quote you with smarter pricing and get discs and agreements shipped out directly to you next day. You can't get much simpler than that.
