Database Development

Database solutions require specialised knowledge - don't be fooled by general "IT Consultants" who want another job learning new skills at your expense, because a badly designed or implemented database system can ruin your business.

As Microsoft Registered Partners specialising in their database systems, we have the skills, experience and track record in delivering working solutions robust enough to handle the many unforseen complexities of daily business operations. User and business-procedure efficiency is paramount, as well as code which is good enough to be maintained by any other suitably qualified developer in future, including your own IT staff.

Outsourcing database development to qualified specialists benefits your business by fixing scope, time and costs of projects. It also enables your own IT and Analyst staff to concentrate on operational IT activities and cleaner programming rather than incurring overheads and relying on ever quicker out-of-date knowledge and versions of software. Let us worry about the database and IT development industry so we can provide you with the right tools and the best code to get the project done.

SQL Server Database Development

  • Views constructed and used for secure permissions layer
  • Security models implemented (Role Based etc)
  • Integration Services (SSIS) implemented
  • Microsoft Access Reporting and Data Management
  • Microsoft Excel PivotTable and PivotChart Drill-down Reporting
  • Web-Based Reporting and Maintenance Pages
  • Reporting Services configured, constructed and deployed
  • Analysis Services and Data Cubes designed and implemented

Access & SQL Upgrade Development

Microsoft Access is a fantastic frontend client that staff can use to manage your data. We hold developer's licences so we can provide Access Frontends (which already save development time and therefore cost) without you having to pay for the latest version of Access itself (usually around £200 per PC)!

Unfortunately, in-house Access solutions are often the victim of their own success. The system grows in time, modified and extended by different users until there's a plethora of queries and forms, many of which are out of data and out of synch with the rest. The results are a maintenance nightmare and sometimes catastrophic impact on vital business data.

We don't recommend maintaining Access-Backended systems (where the data is in a shared Access database rather than a full client-server systems such as SQL Server) because if there is more than one user, locking issues can cause many problems because Access was not designed for it. For more than a few users, we would recommend upgrading the backend to SQL Server and using this to point the Access user frontend to, gaining you the best of both worlds (secure multi-user backend with quicker inexpensive developed user frontends).

  • Moving backend data to SQL Sever whilst still using your invested Access frontend
  • Upgrades from older/unsupported Versions (eg, Access 97 to 2003/2007)
  • Additional Functionality added through Forms and Reports
  • Specialists in PivotTable and PivotChart Reporting
